After Hurricane Katrina, Kate Poole, an artist from Prince Edward Island, Canada, came to the coast to volunteer on an as needed basis.  After seeing the destruction, yet being aware of the tremendous outpouring of love among both locals and volunteers from around the country, she wanted to create a piece of art that would symbolize unity. 

She an others gathered shards of pottery, glass wear, bits and pieces of decorations, from the yards and grounds of local people and made this circle mosaic entitled "We Are One Spirit".  It hangs in the Chapel in the Oaks as a lovely reminder that God is in all of us and therefore we are united as one.  Please visit the Chapel and spend time studying the mosaic.  You'll see something different in it each time you look. 

In it are all the elements that keep us alive:  fire, air, water, and earth~!
